2026-08-03Recent commits, a release line that is still moving, and someone answering issues. Colour is spent on the minority that are not.Nobody re-reads the repository they recommended
Every listicle ranking agent tooling was written once and has been decaying ever since. A repository is archived, a maintainer moves on, a release line stops — and the article recommending it stays exactly where it was, at the top of the results, with its star count still going up. Stars measure how many people found a project, never whether anybody is still working on it.
This board reads every tracked repository through the GitHub API once a night and recomputes a verdict from what came back: commit recency, commit volume, release cadence against the project’s own median, time to a first maintainer reply, distinct committers, and the licence. Nothing is hand-graded and nothing is submitted. The working for any one call is on that tool’s own record, so a verdict you disagree with can be argued with on the evidence.
Because the score is a pure function of stored signals, a project that comes back moves off the dead list on the next run, on its own, with no appeal to file. The method page writes the whole scoring function out before it says anything else.
